Why Apple Doesn’t Need the Steve-Note

Geeks around the world, including myself, were stunned today when Apple announced that Steve Jobs would no longer be doing the keynote at MacWorld. However, when the end-of-the-world feeling settled down, the whole idea made a lot of sense.

Apple doesn’t need MacWorld.

If you look at Apple shares in the past few years, it has tanked consistently after every MacWorld keynote. We love Apple products as fanboys and watch that stuff religiously, but the rest of the world finds out about Apple products on the NYT, Cnet, or their local newspaper.

Focus on products, not rehersal of presentations. I think this is a new Apple, one that will be much stronger and efficient.
